Elon Musk Pulls Back the Curtain on DOGE, Exposes Government’s Fraud Machine

Elon Musk, the billionaire entrepreneur behind Tesla and SpaceX, is now tackling a far more ambitious project—ripping the lid off federal corruption through his new role as senior advisor and chair of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). In a sit-down with FOX Business' Larry Kudlow, Musk laid out exactly how his team is tracking waste, canceling bloated contracts, and cutting through the bureaucracy that has been draining America’s finances for decades.

His mission? Follow the money.

“We look at the president’s executive orders, and we also just follow the money,” Musk explained. “So we started looking closely at USAID because they were completely violating the president's executive orders to suspend foreign aid.”

And that’s just the tip of the iceberg. According to Musk, the biggest source of fraud in the world isn’t just reckless government spending—it’s government-funded non-governmental organizations (NGOs). These so-called "independent" groups take billions in taxpayer money, yet operate with little to no oversight.

"This is a gigantic fraud loophole where the government can give money to an NGO, and then there are no controls over that NGO," Musk said.

DOGE, created by President Donald Trump via executive order on Inauguration Day, has one simple mission: slash trillions from the national deficit before July 4, 2026. Musk confirmed that DOGE has “pretty much” gained access to every federal agency’s spending data, allowing them to go line by line, publicly listing what they intend to cut.

And the cuts are massive.

Fraud, Waste, and the Bureaucracy That Owns Washington

Musk pushed back against critics who claim DOGE has overstepped by gaining access to federal payment systems and terminating contracts. Instead, he argued that the department is injecting “caring and competence” into an otherwise reckless system that bleeds taxpayer dollars without accountability.

“There’s a massive amount of fraud—people submitting Social Security numbers for benefits, unemployment, Small Business Administration loans, and medical care. We're trying to put a stop to all of that.”

Of course, Washington’s bureaucrats hate DOGE. Why? Because Musk just exposed who really runs the government—and it’s not the politicians.

“What actually happens here is you've got this sort of vast federal bureaucracy, and then you've got a very thin layer of politically-appointed officials,” Musk revealed. “And what has happened is that the bureaucracy, frankly, is in control, and they largely ignore the politically-appointed people.”

In other words, elections may change who sits in the Oval Office, but the unelected bureaucracy keeps running the show. That’s exactly why the national debt has spiraled out of control.

$2 Trillion Deficit: A Wake-Up Call Even Musk Couldn’t Ignore

Musk admitted that even he was shocked by the numbers.

"Frankly, I can't believe I'm here doing this. It's kind of bizarre. But we’ve got this enormous federal budget deficit—it’s a $2 trillion deficit. It keeps growing. Our interest payments are higher than our Defense Department budget. That, I think, was the real wake-up call for me."

This is the exact crisis that people like Bill Brocius have been warning about for years. The U.S. government is spending itself into oblivion, and when the crash comes, it won’t be the bureaucrats who suffer—it’ll be the average American.

Musk’s goal with DOGE is clear: stop the bleeding before it’s too late. But let’s be honest—Washington won’t fix itself. You need to take steps to protect yourself.
