Last week, in a move that should send shivers down the spine of anyone with a functioning brain cell, democratic socialist Zohran Mamdani pulled off an electoral coup—booting Andrew Cuomo, the establishment’s pet candidate, from the Democratic primary for New York City’s mayoral race.
Let’s be clear: New York City isn’t just some municipal backwater. The mayor of this sprawling megalopolis lords over more people than most state governors. So when a candidate openly fantasizing about seizing the means of production gains ground, it’s not a local curiosity—it’s the canary in the coal mine for America’s unraveling.
While media stenographers gnash their teeth over “rising extremism,” they conveniently omit the reason why socialism is surging. Spoiler alert: it’s the fault of the same establishment Democrats now pretending to be appalled. For decades, they’ve built a labyrinth of regulatory booby traps designed to make life so costly, so suffocating, that people will grovel for any promised relief—even if that relief comes from a socialist vulture ready to strip their remaining freedoms to the bone.
Make no mistake: socialism is not some misunderstood utopia. It’s a proven system of economic arson that incinerates wealth, rights, and dignity wherever it slithers in. And yet, Mamdani didn’t bother sugarcoating his ambitions. Sure, he didn’t call for outright collectivization on day one, but he made it clear that’s where he wants to drag New Yorkers—kicking and screaming if need be.
This is what happens when a corrupt ruling class insists that more government control can solve the disasters their previous controls created. Just look at Mamdani’s wish list:
And while establishment Democrats clutch their pearls, let’s not forget they are the ones who made this all inevitable.
For decades, these political parasites have:
And it doesn’t stop at the city line. At the federal level, they’ve installed a crony monetary system—yes, the same FedNow infrastructure they’re itching to expand—designed to funnel wealth straight to Wall Street and Washington while your paycheck buys less each year.
So when Mamdani came along offering radical solutions to a crisis that’s plainly man-made, of course voters listened. After all, the establishment’s “solutions” have been nothing but smug platitudes and economic sabotage.
The Democrats can wail all they want about “unintended consequences,” but let’s be honest: they’ve been gaslighting the public for years. They ridiculed economists who warned about rent control. They banned evictions during COVID with no exit strategy. They nationalized entire sectors under the pretense of public good—and when every single one failed, they claimed everything was peachy.
So why wouldn’t people believe the next round of intervention could work?
Because it can’t. And it won’t.
Every government price control breeds scarcity. Every new mandate kills jobs. Every expansion of centralized control concentrates power in the hands of unaccountable bureaucrats who will never suffer the consequences of their own policies.
And now, with Mamdani on the march, the Democrats are reaping what they sowed: a self-inflicted socialist insurgency. This is only the beginning. The “what are we waiting for” attitude will spread—especially as economic reality continues to crumble under the weight of endless interventions.
If you think you’re safe in your suburb, or that your business can ride this out, think again. The conditions that birthed this movement are national, and the political class—red or blue—has no intention of relinquishing control voluntarily.
