Record Pentagon Spending Exposed

The Big Beautiful Betrayal: Congress Hands Billions to the War Machine

EDITOR'S NOTES

In case you still think Congress is working on your behalf, consider the obscene spectacle of this so-called “Big Beautiful Bill.” It’s a perfect distillation of what happens when career politicians—regardless of their slogans—fall all over themselves to shovel taxpayer money into the gaping maw of the military-industrial complex while gutting basic civil liberties and pretending it’s patriotic. As always, the bloated defense budget grows, the debt spirals, and your dollar loses purchasing power, while the political class congratulates itself for “making America safe.”

A Record-Breaking Giveaway to the War Machine

The US Senate couldn’t even wait until after the July 4th holiday to hand out hundreds of billions of dollars to their favorite special interest: the Pentagon and its army of contractors. They toiled through the weekend to ram the so-called “Big Beautiful Bill” through, hoping Americans would be too distracted by fireworks and backyard barbecues to notice the con job.

While Republican factions quibbled over trimming Medicaid and eliminating “clean energy” tax credits, there was near-universal agreement on one line item: stuffing the military’s coffers with another $156 billion. That’s on top of a defense budget already swollen beyond recognition. Let’s be clear—this is not about keeping you safe. It’s about feeding the permanent war machine that enriches a handful of politically connected firms while hollowing out the middle class and degrading the currency.

Domestic Deployment: The Road to Authoritarianism

They’ll tell you this record spending spree is necessary to “secure the border.” Yet in the same breath, they admit they plan to deploy military troops for domestic policing—an idea as reckless as it is unconstitutional. Soldiers are trained to subdue and destroy, not to protect American neighborhoods. Turning the military inward is the hallmark of authoritarian regimes.

Slashing Aid While Inflating Debt

And as they blow out the defense budget, these same legislators have no problem hacking away at what’s left of the social safety net, proving again that the only spending cuts Washington ever takes seriously are those that impact ordinary people. Meanwhile, every dollar squandered on pointless interventions is another dollar borrowed—debt that will eventually be monetized by the Federal Reserve. You’ll pay for it through the stealth tax of inflation, which steadily erodes your savings while the political class lectures you about “fiscal responsibility.”

Abandoning America First

Let’s not forget President Trump’s own role in this betrayal. For all the talk of ending endless wars, this administration has bombed Iran, escalated military commitments, and now championed the biggest defense budget in history. So much for an America First foreign policy.

If Republicans were serious about prosperity and liberty, they would shut down the regime-change racket and bring our troops home. They’d stop mortgaging the future to fight phantom enemies overseas. They’d rediscover the wisdom of John Quincy Adams, who understood that America is meant to be “the well-wisher to the freedom and independence of all” but “the champion and vindicator only of her own.”
