riots after major events

Unleashed Fury: How Every Major Event Becomes an Excuse for Chaos

EDITOR'S NOTES

In today’s volatile climate, every major event seems to ignite a spark that quickly turns into widespread chaos. From natural disasters to championship wins, any occasion becomes a flashpoint for unrest, revealing the raw nerves and divisions that have come to define our society. In this piece, we examine the deepening cracks in our social fabric and the all-too-frequent pattern of riots, looting, and violence that now accompanies public gatherings and significant moments. As we stand on the brink of yet another contentious election, the potential for upheaval looms large. Prepare yourself for what’s coming—our divided nation shows no signs of healing.

Once again, as if on cue, we’re seeing mass unrest turn our streets into battlegrounds. In the aftermath of Hurricane Helene, looters surged through broken storefronts. Then came Hurricane Milton—same story, different day. Now, with the war in the Middle East igniting tensions globally, American cities are consumed by protests and riots. It doesn’t seem to matter whether the catalyst is good or bad; every big event becomes a pretext for disorder. Just this week, the Los Angeles Dodgers won the World Series. Yet rather than celebrate peacefully, groups of young men in Los Angeles seized the moment to loot stores and assault police with fireworks.

In the early hours following the Dodgers’ win, shops were looted and chaos unfolded in the streets. The LAPD reported “looting at several stores” and urged people to avoid the area near 8th and Broadway. This is no longer an isolated incident. Any major event—be it sports victories, natural disasters, or political wins—is now expected to descend into mayhem.

One Nike store, boarded up in anticipation, was hit particularly hard. Videos show mobs of looters hauling merchandise and dumping it into waiting cars. If people are this reckless in celebration, what can we expect when true outrage erupts?

Beyond the looting, these mobs took their rage further, setting a city bus on fire and overtaking downtown Los Angeles. A crowd, numbering in the hundreds and clad in Dodgers jerseys, turned the city into a warzone, even climbing atop a graffiti-laden bus to celebrate their brand of “victory.”

The mayhem following the World Series is just a preview. Look to the upcoming election—a powder keg waiting for a spark. Poll after poll shows Americans are bracing for what may follow, especially if the results challenge entrenched political biases. A recent survey by the Associated Press found that nearly half of registered voters are “extremely” or “very” concerned about violent attempts to overturn the results. Legal challenges, riots, and attempts to disrupt the process have become expected outcomes.

Donald Trump’s anticipated victory on November 5 has only heightened this fear. For many on the left, the thought of a second Trump term is apocalyptic. They see Trump not just as a political opponent, but as an existential threat. If he wins, for millions, it will feel like the final straw.

If Trump attempts to restore order post-election, we may face an even graver scenario. Some forecasts predict rioting so widespread that Trump might invoke the Insurrection Act, only to face defiance from within the military ranks. If a split within the armed forces materializes, as some scenarios suggest, the U.S. will stand at the edge of true collapse.

The regime’s media machine has painted Trump as a tyrant, pushing the military to question whether it will follow orders from a “madman.” This preemptive attack not only slanders Trump but puts military personnel in the crosshairs. They’re forced to choose: uphold their oath to protect the Constitution or bow to the media-fueled image of Trump as an autocrat.

Our country is now so divided that nearly half of Americans won’t accept the next president, whoever it is. This is not sustainable. Those who dismiss this as “politics as usual” are deluding themselves. We are staring down the barrel of unprecedented chaos, a crisis that will only escalate with each passing event.

I’ve spent years urging Americans to focus on unity, to bridge these ideological divides before they swallow us whole. But our calls for reason and restraint are increasingly drowned out by voices advocating for division and retribution. Now, we’re about to reap what we’ve sown, and what lies ahead will not be pleasant.
