Supreme Court voter purge

8 Shocking Election Bombshells You Need to Know Before Voting!

EDITOR'S NOTES

With Election Day less than a week away, the stakes couldn’t be higher. Already, over 57 million Americans have voted, and in some states, more than half the expected total ballots have been cast. By now, we may be past the tipping point where any last-minute surprise could swing the election. The 2020 election saw Democrats overwhelmingly dominate the early voting period. But 2024 is a different landscape, with early votes split nearly evenly between Democrats and Republicans. Does this indicate a possible “red landslide,” or are Republicans simply moving Election Day votes into early voting? We’ll soon know the answer. For now, these eight critical developments highlight the changing currents shaping the outcome.

1. U.S. Supreme Court Greenlights Virginia’s Voter Roll Purge

The Supreme Court has given the green light for Virginia to purge approximately 1,600 alleged non-citizens from its voter rolls, just days before the election. Virginia officials initiated this voter removal program in August, exactly 90 days before Election Day, which aligns with the requirements of the National Voter Registration Act. The outcome of this decision, especially so close to voting day, could impact the state’s margins, especially if the affected individuals were likely voters.

2. Mail-In Voting Dispute in Bucks County, Pennsylvania Ends in Trump Campaign Victory

A judge in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, extended the on-demand mail-in ballot deadline until Friday, November 1, following claims by the Trump campaign that voters had been improperly turned away. The judge’s order means that Bucks County voters will now have an extra two days to apply for and submit mail-in ballots, a move seen as a significant victory for Republicans who argued for expanded mail-in access.

3. Turnout Surges in Wisconsin’s Conservative Strongholds

In Wisconsin, turnout in the traditionally conservative counties of Waukesha, Ozaukee, and Washington is outpacing the Democratic-leaning Dane County by over 12%, an increase from a mere 0.9% advantage in 2020. This nearly 13% swing is expected to play a critical role, especially given that Wisconsin is a high-stakes battleground.

4. Arizona Republicans Outperform in “Low Propensity Voter” Turnout

In Arizona, Republicans are outperforming Democrats in turning out "low propensity voters"—those who typically vote infrequently. Republicans lead by several percentage points among infrequent voters, suggesting that, by Election Day, they could outpace Democrats by more than 300,000 votes.

5. Abortion on the Ballot: Split Voters Still Back Trump

Abortion is on the ballot in Arizona and Nevada, states where Democrats hoped it would drive support for Kamala Harris. However, polling indicates that many pro-abortion rights voters are still choosing Trump. Despite abortion being a galvanizing issue, Trump has assured voters that he will not support a national abortion ban. This stance has made him a more palatable option for moderate voters who support abortion rights but lean Republican.

6. Harris Campaign Retreats from North Carolina’s Swing State Status

It appears that the Harris campaign may be pulling back on its North Carolina efforts. AdImpact reported that, after booking $2.7 million in last-minute North Carolina ads, the Harris campaign retracted over $2 million of those reservations. Early voting numbers look discouraging for Democrats in the state, with Republicans casting 9,000 more ballots than in 2020 and Democrats casting over 300,000 fewer votes than at this point four years ago.

7. Test Election Results Accidentally Aired by Pennsylvania TV Station

A television station in Pennsylvania mistakenly aired “randomly generated test results” during a Formula 1 broadcast. The station intended to test equipment ahead of Election Day but accidentally showed numbers that were never meant to be public. While the station has apologized, the incident has intensified existing concerns over the integrity and transparency of media reporting on election results.

8. Arsonists Target Ballot Boxes in Oregon and Washington

Ballot boxes in Oregon and Washington were targeted by arsonists using incendiary devices marked with “Free Gaza.” These arson attempts have heightened security concerns across the country and serve as a stark reminder of the lengths some will go to express their political discontent. The attacks are under investigation, but the timing suggests that election-related tensions are escalating.

The Chaotic Road Ahead

With Election Day looming, tensions are rising to unprecedented levels. These incidents are just a preview of the volatility that will follow the November 5 election.
