Here’s what we know:

The ATF has access to Clearview AI, Vigilant Solutions, and multiple state and federal facial recognition databases.
These systems pull from over 30 billion facial images scraped from news sites, mugshots, and—yes—your social media.
The ATF conducted at least 549 facial recognition searches between 2019 and 2022.
The ATF failed to train its staff on the accuracy or proper use of facial recognition, leading to false arrests and misidentifications.
GAO warned that facial recognition could have a “chilling effect” on constitutional rights.

The warning is clear: The ATF is using this technology to create a backdoor gun registry.

The ATF claims it stopped using facial recognition in April 2023.

First, they track who has them.
Then, they start with “voluntary” buybacks.
